To catch a monster with a pod, first weaken it to below 50 HP then throw the pod at it. In addition to Starter Pets the player can tame many types of animals and monsters. If you were accurate enough, the pod will drop to the ground filled and you can throw it to release the monster You cannot capture flying monsters/mini-bosses/bosses. The home planet pets are more aimed towards companionship while the space monster pets are more suited for combat. How do you get animals in Starbound?īefore you can capture pets, first you need a capture pod. New Collections interface tracks various kinds of collectables including captured pets, figurines. Capture pods can be crafted at the Creature Capture Station. Do note that you can only capture small animals with a capture pod, and they have to be below 50% HP. For the most part, spawning items inside of Starbound is fairly straightforward. I wish we could just assign the capture pods to the pet slot so its easily deployable instead of having to throw a capture pod. This means that you can't capture adult monsters or other NPCs. You’ll be able to copy and paste the spawn command for items directly from our Starbound item IDs table. However if you’re required to manually enter the command, you can enter /spawnitem to your console.
